PATENTES RELACIONADAS A GEOENGENHARIA E A MUDANÇAS GENÉTICAS
A seguir está uma lista de patentes que encontrei sobre o tema. Certamente o numero de patentes deve ser bem maior do que isso.. simplesmente é o que encontrei disponivel no site: GeoEngineering Watch
Geoengenharia está ligada a outro assunto que ainda não coloquei neste site... o HAARP (high frequency active auroral research program). Mas se dermos uma olhada na patente referente ao HAARP, no quarto paragrafo do item 2 da descrição vamos encontrar:
"It has also been proposed to release large clouds of barium in the magnetosphere so that photoionization will increase the cold plasma density, thereby producing electron precipitation through enhanced whistler-mode interactions." (grifo meu).
Também curiosa é a patente americana e brasileira, para plantas resistentes ao aluminio. Foi feita em 01 de setembro de 2009... e fico me perguntando porque alguem financiaria uma pesquisa para modificaçao genetica de plantas, para que fossem resistentes ao aluminio, em 2009? Coincidentemente o aluminio é um dos metais pulverizados pela geoengenharia para reflexão solar.
Também é curiosa a modificação genética para plantas se tornarem mais resistentes à seca, pela coincidencia que tem com a seca do SE:
Descoberta da Embrapa revoluciona transgênicos
A Embrapa patenteou duas tecnologias que podem abrir uma nova fronteira para o desenvolvimento de plantas transgênicas resistentes a doenças, mais produtivas e com tolerância à seca. Uma delas elimina a manifestação da proteína transgênica no fruto, o que pode ajudar a quebrar a resistência dos consumidores aos organismos geneticamente modificados na alimentação.
A pesquisa, liderada pela doutora em genética e melhoramento de plantas da Embrapa Recursos Genéticos e Biotecnologia, Juliana Dantas de Almeida, envolve o uso dos chamados "promotores", como são conhecidas as sequências de DNA que definem como os genes inseridos no genoma da planta se manifestam.
A reportagem é de Tarso Veloso e publicada pelo jornal Valor, 22-05-2013.
O primeiro desses promotores, chamado de "promotor específico", é capaz de restringir a manifestação da proteína transgênica às folhas da planta.
O segundo, chamado "promotor constitutivo", permite a manifestação do transgene em toda a planta, mas em intensidade menor do que nos produtos geneticamente modificados disponíveis hoje no mercado - caso da sojaRoundup Ready (RR), da Monsanto, presente em quase 90% das lavouras no Brasil e nos Estados Unidos.
Atualmente, todos os transgênicos disponíveis no mercado apresentam promotores "constitutivos", que agem o tempo todo e em todas as partes da planta. Ao utilizar um promotor específico, explica a pesquisadora, é possível garantir que um gene resistente à ferrugem asiática, doença fúngica que ataca as folhas da soja, atue apenas nessa parte da planta e não interfira na produção da planta.
A principal vantagem dessa tecnologia avalia Juliana, é a ausência de traços de transgenia no fruto ou na raiz, o que pode ajudar a mitigar a forte rejeição de consumidores, sobretudo na Europa, aos transgênicos presentes diretamente na alimentação. Essa rejeição é uma barreira ao avanço da pesquisa com transgênicos em culturas como o trigo.
A pesquisadora ressalta que a técnica permite manipular genes destinados a combater doenças fúngicas de modo que não ataquem também os fungos considerados benéficos para o desenvolvimento da planta.
"No caso da ferrugem, um fungo ataca a folha até que a planta não consiga mais captar a luz para fazer fotossíntese. Com um gene resistente à ferrugem sob comando de um promotor constitutivo, a planta inteira vai expressar a característica. Se isso ocorrer, a proteína transgênica pode vir a ser tóxica para seus fungos que estão promovendo a fixação de nitrogênio na raiz e que são benéficos. Com o promotor específico, vamos conseguir expressar só na folha a característica", explica.
Além disso, a descoberta também pode facilitar o desenvolvimento de plantas tolerantes a secas prolongadas, à medida que permite trabalhar genes que reduzem a transpiração das plantas por meio das folhas. "A tecnologia pode chamar a atenção por ajudar a produzir com as mudanças no clima", disse.
Outra vantagem de a transgenia não se manifestar diretamente no fruto é a possível queda dos custos com o processo de registro nas autoridades reguladoras, como a Comissão Técnica Nacional de Biossegurança (CTNBio). "A partir do momento que você prova que o gene não é expresso no fruto e ele é a parte comestível, a quantidade de testes exigidos cai consideravelmente", afirma Juliana.
A nova tecnologia da Embrapa foi desenvolvida exclusivamente com recursos públicos - ao todo, a pesquisa consumiu R$ 700 mil desde 2005. Segundo a geneticista, os novos promotores podem auxiliar na descoberta de cultivares mais competitivas e contribuir para a independência tecnológica da estatal.
"A pesquisa consiste em criar um banco de promotores que pode ser usado por pesquisadores da Embrapa, reduzindo a dependência tecnológica da empresa", afirma. "Atualmente, quando vai fazer um projeto visando à obtenção de transgênicos, o pesquisador da Embrapa não tem para onde correr porque tudo já é patenteado. Então, a solução que encontramos foi a Embrapa ter seus próprios promotores e suas patentes".
A Embrapa também registrou um "promotor constitutivo" - semelhante ao da soja RR, produzida pela multinacionalMonsanto, e ao do feijão resistente ao vírus do mosaico, recentemente registrado pela própria estatal.
A diferença aqui é que o novo promotor patenteado foi isolado a partir de genomas vegetais, o que diminui as chances de ocorrer o que os pesquisadores chamam de "silenciamento gênico" - uma defesa natural das plantas contra invasões por vírus. Quando ocorre o silenciamento, a planta para de expressar a característica transgênica e perde os benefícios esperados.
No caso do feijão resistente ao mosaico dourado, a Embrapa adotou um promotor constitutivo. Mesmo assim, nenhuma proteína transgênica é manifestada no grão. Nesse caso, os pesquisadores fizeram uma intervenção para que a planta produza fragmentos de RNA idênticos aos do vírus, produzindo um efeito semelhante ao de uma vacina.
